Legoland – All things Lego in California
Do you have a child or children between the ages of 2-12? Then you probably know exactly what Legos are – those colorful little building bricks. You may have played with them yourself (or still do!). A fun idea to consider when planning your next family vacation is a trip to the place all things Lego – Legoland.

Legoland amusement parks can be found in 4 countries: Denmark (home of Legos), USA, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
In the US, Legoland can be found in Carlsbad, California. Located about 30 miles outside San Diego, California, Legoland is a unique type of amusement park. There are more than 50 rides, an aquarium, and shows and attractions to interest the entire family. Spread out over 128 acres, there is plenty to do here including a 50 foot high dual slides in an Egyptian bazaar-themed setting, a 4-D Bob the Builder movie, and the Xbox Family Gamespace, just to name a few of them.

This park is great for younger children who might not be tall enough for the rides at traditional theme parks more geared to older children and teens. Just walking around is fun too as you spy the various objects created out of millions of Legos. Of course, your kids will be running from here and there to ride the rides and play with everything the Park has to offer. Be sure to have a good night’s sleep before your visit here because Legoland is 100% active fun!
Lodging Near the Park
There are hotels located close to the Park. The Grand Pacific Palisades is considered by some to be the best coastal family resort in North San Diego. Overlooking the ocean, this resort is located adjacent to LEGOLAND with a pedestrian guest entrance. The Grand Pacific has everything to help make your family vacation easy. Guests can enjoy the resort’s new children’s interactive water park and heated family pool, activity center with table tennis and video games room, Olympic-sized pool, three spas, and a fully-equipped fitness center. Dining is available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner onsite at their restaurant, the Karl Strauss Brewery and Restaurant.

Tip: Rooms come equipped with dvd players and audio systems. So feel free to bring along your child’s favorite movie or music. Also, children under 18 can sleep in same room for free and use of a roll-away bed is no charge. Be sure to check with the hotel to confirm this and check for availability when making your reservations.
Another hotel is the spectacular Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa. This coastal hotel is located adjacent to LEGOLAND and offers a private entrance to the park. There will be no waiting in line here! It also is just minutes from the beautiful Carlsbad State beaches and golfing.
Tip: Discount tickets to Legoland are available from the concierge. Kids under 18 can stay for free if using the existing bedding.
Certainly if you have kids, a family vacation where imagination, exciting rides and shows, and hands-on activities can be found in one spot is worth a visit. Legoland as a destination will delight both your children and the child in you.
